PSF8 (EMI Filter & DC Blocker)

PSF8 is a product that has been conceived to improve the electrical power supply of our hi-fi audio systems so as to deliver a higher quality of the overall audio. Due to the fact that nowadays our homes are filled with electrical devices, interferences are created in the household’s power grid, thus creating noise and distortions in the alternate current waveform.

The combined upgrades that our product provides help to avoid limiting the sonic potential of our sound systems, which can be seriously bottlenecked if the issue is not made aware. With our PSF8 the noise is reduced and the audio becomes more focused, low intensity audio becomes clearer, the transparency is improved, low pitched sounds are more developed while high sounds become sharper.

CHARACTERISTICS

We are aware of how important the Linea de tierra de red is for hi-fi systems, we use a ground connection which stays clean from the current entrance to each schuko socket, without any passive or active components connected to it.

We’ve designed a combination of techniques that consists in the use of an EMI/RFI filter and a DC blocker (High frequency filter and direct current blocker), with the key components being oversized so as to not produce dynamic loss problems which is a typical issue in other similar products and manufactures.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

EMI/RFI FILTER

Contains a filtering circuit of audio of high performance which eliminates the EMI/RFI contamination in the electrical power grid. This is highly efficient at reducing the differential mode noise (which is commonly increased by switched-mode power supplies often used by electrical appliance and personal computers) as well as the common-mode noise (increased by interferences produced by mobile phones, Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth connections, etc.). 

In the part corresponding to the EMI/RFI filter, we use a double coil in differential mode of high quality and great section, with high current managing capacity (up to 15A rms). The capacitors that are being used are not inductive “X1 class” and polypropylene film MKP.

DC BLOCK

 

In theory, the alternating current in our power grid should be pure, with a perfectly symmetrical sine wave alternating between positive phase and negative phase, but many causes produced by electrical devices connected to our households’ sockets can divert the waveform, which results in the presence of DC voltage.

Audio amplifiers can have mechanic noise problems in the transformador de potencia, resulting in excessive heat and loss of performance, due to the direct current component that can exist in the power grid.

The bigger (more VA) the transformador (toroidal) is, the higher the sensibility to small DC tensions that can exists in the AC power grid, which are enough to create mechanic noise or saturation in the transformador.

All transformadores will benefit from an improved performance in the power supply system if the power gets to our systems as clean as possible and with no DC.
